Expertise: My research focuses on Quantum Metrology protocols in the context of optical phase estimation. I exploit both single-photon states and squeezed light to overcome the classical shot noise limit.
With the aim to achieve the ultimate bound of precision, I developed adaptive protocols both in a single parameter and multi-parameter regime to mitigate the effects of experimental noise in the measurement.

Expertise: cosmological models of high redshift galaxy formation and evolution (with both semi-analytical methods and hydrodynamical simulations), metal-poor stellar populations and their black hole remnants, astrophysical sources of gravitational waves.

Expertise: My research focuses on searching for continuous gravitational-wave signals emitted, for example, by fast spinning neutron stars. I develop algorithms for directed searches, pointing to interesting regions in the sky, such as the center of the Milky Way, globular clusters or supernova remnants.  I also study, characterize, and mitigate noise artifacts in LIGO and Virgo detector data which can mimic the behavior of a true GW signal.

Expertise: My research activity is mainly focused on the synthesis (CVD, lithographic and additive manufacturing technologies), characterization via electron and scanning probe microscopies (SEM, TEM, AFM), and spectroscopic techniques (XPS, Raman) of multifunctional materials, nanomaterials and arrays of nanostructures, controlling the route in a micro- and nano-fabrication context. I collaborate in the evaluation of potential exploitation of these materials in novel detection schemes for astro-particles.
