Tomassoni and Felice Pietro Chisesi Prize is
professor Alain Aspect, Professor at Institut d'Optique (Augustin Fresnel chair) and at Ecole Polytechnique, and  CNRS distinguished researcher emeritus at Laboratoire Charles Fabry de l'Institut d'Optique.

Motivation:
For his fundamental experimental contribution testing the foundations of quantum mechanics with pairs of entangled photons, and for the following research on laser cooling of atoms, atom optics and ultra-cold atoms, which led to the first observations of Bose Einstein Condensation of metastable helium.
