Miguel A. Virasoro receives the 2020 ICTP Dirac Medal

On the 10th August 2020 the International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) awarded the 2020 Dirac Medal and Prize to Andre' Neveu (University of Montpellier), Pierre Ramond (University of Florida) and Miguel Virasoro (Universita' di Roma La Sapienza) "for their pioneering contributions to the inception and formulation of string theory which introduced new bosonic and fermionic symmetries into physics".

Miguel Angel Virasoro, born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, has been a member of the Physics Department of La Sapienza from 1981 until his retirement in 2011, and has given seminal contributions to several branches of theoretical physics.

The Department sends him the warmest congratulations for this outstanding achievement.
