Taira Giordani, a researcher at the Department of Physics at Sapienza University of Rome, is among the six winners of the 24th edition of the L'Oréal-UNESCO "For Women in Science" Young Talents Italy Award. Each year, the program awards €20,000 prizes to support young female scientists under the age of 35 engaged in scientific disciplines.

Taira Giordani specializes in quantum photonic technologies and will develop a project at the Quantum Lab focusing on QOLOSSUS, a photonic quantum computer prototype developed in collaboration with the CNR. The research utilizes single particles of light within miniaturized optical circuits, guiding them through microscopic paths known as waveguides. The goal is to certify that the platform is controllable and programmable, a fundamental step in transforming the prototype into a processor capable of running complex algorithms.
